JOY
it was nice hearing justin mcroberts play again. always has insightful stuff to say.
on the way back kwan and i were trying to figure out what to eat and so we asked kwan's girls what they wanted. they all said anything. then i asked em what they didnt want. all i got was silence. 10 secs later i hear "KFC. no KFC." then right away the others said, "no noodles", "no italian", "no la burrita", "no mexican." so me and kwan think a lil and decide on in-n-out since it was on the way home and no one said "no burgers." so we ask if in-n-out is ok w/ everyone and they respond w/ a few unenthusiastic unwilling "okay" s. then 10 secs later one of the girl asks "is that the only option?" kwan says that theres plenty of options and the girl says "ok, lets go w/ that." kwan asks "in-n-out?" and girl says "options." kwan names like a dozen places to eat but got no positive responses. finally i asked if they wanted pho and i got 4 enthusiastic responses. why is it that girls dont initally say whats on their minds?
last night at PPP i started up a random game which involved flicking each others foreheads. almost everytime i suggest punishments for games i end up losing. someway, somehow it always comes to bite me in the ddongamonk and last night was no different. i ended up taking the most forehead flicks. it was pretty entertaining, im sure much more entertaining for everyone else than me. game was fun til we made up too many rules which killed the game but was fun while it lasted.
PRAY
i think im too competitive. i thought that this part of me had died down in the past 2 yrs of college but i realized that its back after playing mario party. i was thoroughly pummelled twice and the whole time i was very frustrated. its not that i love winning, i could almost care less cept that i HATE losing. i need to go on fear factor, i think i would have a really good shot at winning. need my shoulder to heal faster.
we need to live everyday like the girl JM talked about, make everything count for something.
THANKS
for doing something to do other than HM the past 2 nights.

JOY
yesterday went to zachary's for lunch. the waiter was serving the slices and asked janet what kinda pizza she wanted:
waiter: "chicken or the special?"
janet: "pizza....., i mean chicken."
waiter: "here's a chicken for the smart one."
went miniture golfing and bowling this past weekend. it was nice doing something "active" for a change. cant believe that these are the 2 most active things that ive done in the past 6 weeks.

PRAYER
"unless i'm badly mistaken, one of the main reasons so many of God's children don't have a significant prayer life is not so much that we don't want to, but that we don't plan to. if you want to take a four-week vacation, you don't just get up one summer morning and say, "hey, let's go today!" you won't have anything ready. you won't know where to go. nothing has been planned. but that is how many of us treat prayer. we get up day after day and realize that significant times of prayer should be a part of our life, but nothing's ever ready. we don't know where to go. nothing has been planned. no time. no place. no procedure. and we all know that the opposite of planning is not a wonderful flow of deep, spontaneous experiences in prayer. the opposite of planning is the rut. if you don't plan a vacation you will probably stay home and watch TV. the natural, unplanned flow of spiritual life sinks to the lowest ebb of vitality. there is a race to be run and a fight to be fought. if you want renewal in your life of prayer you must plan to see it." -piper quoted from spiritual disciplines for the christian life
