finally met up w/ roymund, havent seen the foo since graduations. him and butch are always hilarious.
during dinner i was reminded of vbs: my kids stuck soooo much butter on their bread. one time one of em stuck 2 sticks of butter on a single roll and i caught him trying to put on a 3rd. i stopped him from putting that last one on. hopefully they wont get early heart attacks. the kids also loved to add sugar to their lemonade. it was such unnecessary sugar, usually 2 packs of regular sugar and another pack of equal. kids need to learn better habits.

had a fun time at vbs. my kids were psychos and they were driving me nuts but i still enjoyed the whole experience. it was funny how some of my kids wouldnt mind going butt naked in front of others while some kids changed under the blankets or in the bathroom. being in the skit w/ butch and steph and the rest of the gang was painful at times but still very enjoyable w/ lotsa laughs. esp esters moment: "my husbands gonna be REALLY good looking!" trip, stumble, stumble. and getting a few ppl to smell my plaque ball was awsome. many were educated from that experience.
PRAYER
got to share the gospel with my 5 kids. it kinda surprised me that only 1 had a decent idea of the true gospel message. i pray that something stuck w/ them.
reminded of the kids at kcpc. gotta pray for them too and the whole church as well.

funny but bad dennys session.
"were definitely not edifying them."
"dont play your deaf card again."
hopefully more was gained from it than just bad perceptions.
THANKS
vivian for dinner. and eileen/vicky for the other night. good food and company both times. i kinda wanted to add a food review to remember cuz ive been to a few new places this past week:
delfina: semi-italian joint in mission district. pretty busy place even on monday night but counter seating available for walk-in guests. decor is alright, long mirror was kinda cool. kinda loud so not exactly ideal for conversation. expected the appetizer of calimari to be fried but it wasnt, cooked in another way and served with some sort of beans, not bad but i think fried woulda been better. halibut was pretty good, not too fishy, portions not so big. tried the chicken too which was better than expected, juicy and flavorful, a lil sweet tasting. tuna was alright, nothing spectacular. didnt pay the bill but think it was moderately priced. overall rating = 8
citron: cute lil place on college right past rockridge bart. think you can usually find seating, sat lunch was not busy at all. college ave type scenery, sorta date place style. complimentary green cucumber fresca kinda refreshing but not great tasting. heard patte is usually whatever but it wasnt bad here. bro said mushroom soup was pretty good, chicken sandwich was alright. viv thought fish (forget exactly what kinda but similar to swordfish) sandwich was not that great even thought waiter said it was his favorite and recommended it. mom didnt like seafood dish, said rice was like jook. dad had skirt steak which was pretty good, probably best entree. i had gorgonzola in a red sauce which was alright, kind of heavy and cheesy, similar to soojehbee. best gorgonzola ive had is still gypsies, hands down. prices looked a lil cheaper than expected (but maybe cuz it was lunch). overall rating = 7
boulevard: reservations on friday night @ embarcadero. one of the most popular restaurants in all of sf so reservations is a must. decor wasnt anything crazy but had somewhat of a fancy, elegant look. kind of a weird smell near the bar but think it was some sort of cleaning stuff. cant remember appetizers right now. filet mignon was nice, not anything very special though, had its own flavor cuz of sauce/juice. banana creme pie was good cept for one oreo-ish part which was a lil strange, gave a different taste and texture. creme brulee was good, better than average creme brulee. pretty expensive place. wine doubled the cost. overall rating = 8.5
ochame: was able to make same day reservation when it opened around 5:30. nice, quiet 4th street area. dim lighting, not too loud, good date place. japanese type cuisine. started with green onion pancakes which were very similar to pah-jun cept a lil lighter tasting. skirt steak was excellent and mushrooms were great as well. dont remember cost but think it was very fair. overall rating = 9
mecca: very hip, modern place with contempo music on market near the restaurant home. think its somewhat of a gay scene at the bar. carrot soup was surprisingly splendid, not too much of a carrot taste and sweet but not too sweet. pork tenderloin had a unique taste cuz it was wood roasted, noticed rum in the sweet potatoes. interesting, good but not great. overall rating = 8

had my last day of awana. it made me sad to think that i wouldnt be around to see them anymore. i really wanna be a part of their lives and see them grow up. i hope that there will be teachers who stick around longer than usual, not just in awana but in the other ministries as well. theres such a great need for committed teachers for the youth at kcpc. may God fulfill this need.
THANKS
for all of the calls, messages, and cakes.

"Sometimes one is conscious of spiritual life only because he is still struggling to maintain it, not at all because he is purposefully living it. Pray for my soul. We need no funds here, really, nor more workers. What we need is spiritual power and vigor in the soul. Our enemy wields well his weapons, and his, no less than ours, are spirtual weapons, for the defense of those same strongholds which we are equipped to pull down." - Jim Elliot

the warriors/cavs game was whatevs, lebron had one weak dunk but there still was a momentous occasion at the game. during one of the breaks tshirts were being fired out in a slingshot. john really wanted one and got up and started waving and yelling. when they shot one towards our side i noticed that the balled up tshirt was coming towards us. i realized that i really had a shot at getting it cuz it was so close. i was getting ready to jump and grab it but it went slightly to my right. 3 seats over i saw john bend down and then he triumphantly raised up his arm w/ the shirt in hand. i was happy for him cuz i knew that he really wanted it. he passed around the prize for us to see and i pretended to throw it back but he gave me a death look that said "thats not even funny, i would kill you if you did that." i passed it back to him and he proceeded to unwrap it. he opened up the balled up shirt and the first thing all of us see in big white letters is "ROSS". underneath it in smaller letters it read "dress for less". we all started to bust up including the guys behind us cuz they saw it clearly too. john had a very disappointed look on his face and i felt bad for him but i couldnt help laughing at how hilarious the situation was.

i finally understand why ppl think everyone loves raymond is so funny. watched part of a good episode and had some good laughs.

good times at dennys the other night w/ alex, charles, and kwan.
"im down w/ it."
kwans sg guys make me laugh.
"i give her a .75 for going to church."
fear factor idea:
"drive a car straight at ppl and the person to wait the longest wins."
"then just get a lot of padding."

hallelujah night: lil david had so much fun flipping over a rubber ducky and finding out that it had a pink sticker underneath it. it was so ridiculous but so awsome that he could find so much joy in doing something so simple. i really liked ipod idea, too bad not a lot of ppl danced, but joshua definitely went crazy.
dennis said that he likes the country fried potatoes at dennys cuz theyre like only $2 and p eug responds, "you could get a whole sack of potatoes for the same price." dont exactly know y me and frank were laughing so hard cuz of that.
THANKS
to all who helped out w/ hallelujah night. it is much appreciated.
PRAYER
i dont wanna be one of those ppl that goes to kcpc for a few yrs cuz of school and then just goes back to la. i feel like thats what everyone does. teachers come in and out as often as the olympics. theres so few teachers that have been serving over 3 yrs. i can count the # on just one hand. thats a pretty sad thought.
my prayer is that ppl will be truly committed as teachers. my prayer is that ppl will stay and continue to teach. my prayer is that ppl will love the church and that they will remember that the church is the body. my prayer is that this would not be just my prayer but ours.

superizzie: work is slow these days though
superizzie: so i'm being a rebel
superizzie: and chatting
played bball for the first time in a LONG time. felt rusty but felt good playing again. glad i didnt get hurt.
last night danny threw the football at kwans feet. it hit him and then kwan kinda jumped or something and slipped on the football and landed on his butt. i havent laughed that hard in a while.
THANKS
susan for the blank tape.
PRAYER
"but i've been comforted this week thinking of our Lord's thirty silent years of readying Himself at home with His family and bending over a carpenter's bench. were those days any less of a fragrance to God than is later work before the eyes of the people? i think not. a well-made piece of furniture and a healed blind man represented the same thing to the Father - job well done; mission accomplished. so with us here. nothing great, but what is that to Him with whom there is no great or small?"

let us not just think this but really believe it.

good small flock. interesting things were said.
had a good talk w/ kevin @ in-n-out. think i went through the exact same things he did last year.
PRAYER
the love fore equals is a human thing - of friend for friend, brother for brother. it is to love what is loving and lovely. the world smiles.
the love for the less fortunate is a beautiful thing - the love for those who suffer, for those who are poor, the sick, the failures, the unlovely. this is compassion, and it touches the heart of the world.
the love for the more fortunate is a rare thing - to love those who succeed where we fail, to rejoice without envy with those who rejoice, the love of the poor for the rich, of the black man for the white man. the world is always bewildered by its saints.
and then there is the love for the enemy - love for the one who does not love you but mocks, threatens, and inflicts pain. the tortured's love for the torurer. this is God's love. it conquers the world.

danny yoon tried to do a flip and then ate it really hard on the red turf at kleeburger.
later john kicked james whang right where it hurts.
PRAYER
that Lord is my sheperd, i shall not be in want
He leads me lie down in green pastures,
He leades me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
even though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
i will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life
and i will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

"must we always comment on life? can it not simply be lived in the reality of Christ's terms of contact withe the Father, with joy and peace, fear and love full to the fingertips in their turn, without incessant drawing of lessons and making of rules? i do not know. only i know that my own life is full. it is time to die, for i have had all that a young man can have, at least all this young man can have. if there were no further issue from my training, it would be well. the training has been good, and to the glory of God. i am ready to meet Jesus. failure means nothing now, only that it taught me life. success is meaningless, only that it gave me farther experience in using the great gift of God, Life. and Life, i love thee. not because thou art long, or because thou hast done great things for me, but simply because i have thee from God."

esp for the sg leaders: "one of my renaissance experiences was to get among kids who were on a different spiritual level than my own, and enjoy fellowship with them. i found a very subtle snare in so doing. i sought their fellowship in order that i might minister to them, 'be a help,' you know, to these 'weaker' ones. what a rebuke came when i sensed my real motive - that I might minister. love hacks right at this, for she refused to parade herself. i learned to recognize no 'spiritual planes,' but simply to love, purely, in every group. trying to 'be a help' even has a smell of good works in it, for it is not pure. our motive is only to be - do nothing, know nothing, act nothing - just to be a sinful bit of flesh, born of a Father's love." - Shadow of the Almighty
for dave shin as he leaves for china for a year as well.

" 'and the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forver. ' 'in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.' i think the devil has made it his business to monopolize on three elements: noise, hurry, crowds. if he can keep us hearing radios, gossip, conversation, or even sermons, he is happy. but he will not allow quietness. for he believes Isaiah where we do not. satan is quite aware of the power of silence. the voice of God, though persistent, is soft.... i am finding your counsel to get enough sleep most practical, mother. not only to be fit for the day and able to relax, but for spiritual awareness and reception one must simply be rested if he is to be blessed. let us resist the devil in this by avoiding noise as much as we can, purposefully seeking to spend time alone, facing ourselves in the Word....satan is aware of where we find our strength. may he not rob us!" - Jim Elliot

movie line of the year (from alien v.s. predator):
"the enemy of the enemy is my friend."
that almost made the movie worth watching.
went to another wedding, im happy for mejeld and gower.
at the reception dennis and john tricked roymund into eating a packet of salt (which he thought was sugar). he stuck his big tongue out in disgust and it was all white. after he got it off he started grabbing john and dennis furiously. too much rage but it was hilarious.
PRAYER
for mejeld and gower as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

went to 2 weddings this weekend. finally my 32-year-old cousin has gotten married. shes been due to hitch for a while and now im happy for her. i was technically one of her gift registry ppl but they had enuf help so i didnt have to do much. later on i caught her garder and found $100 in it. and then my 2 friends from yn, bert and stacy, got married as well. i got to participate in this one too but as an usher. im happy for this couple as well, think theyve been dating for like 7 years or so. the weddings were different but both were nice in their own ways. i think the slide show is an important aspect of weddings and both were fun to watch.
PRAYER
that both couples would draw closer to one another as they grow closer to God.
THANKS

it was nice hearing justin mcroberts play again. always has insightful stuff to say.
on the way back kwan and i were trying to figure out what to eat and so we asked kwan's girls what they wanted. they all said anything. then i asked em what they didnt want. all i got was silence. 10 secs later i hear "KFC. no KFC." then right away the others said, "no noodles", "no italian", "no la burrita", "no mexican." so me and kwan think a lil and decide on in-n-out since it was on the way home and no one said "no burgers." so we ask if in-n-out is ok w/ everyone and they respond w/ a few unenthusiastic unwilling "okay" s. then 10 secs later one of the girl asks "is that the only option?" kwan says that theres plenty of options and the girl says "ok, lets go w/ that." kwan asks "in-n-out?" and girl says "options." kwan names like a dozen places to eat but got no positive responses. finally i asked if they wanted pho and i got 4 enthusiastic responses. why is it that girls dont initally say whats on their minds?
last night at PPP i started up a random game which involved flicking each others foreheads. almost everytime i suggest punishments for games i end up losing. someway, somehow it always comes to bite me in the ddongamonk and last night was no different. i ended up taking the most forehead flicks. it was pretty entertaining, im sure much more entertaining for everyone else than me. game was fun til we made up too many rules which killed the game but was fun while it lasted.
PRAY
i think im too competitive. i thought that this part of me had died down in the past 2 yrs of college but i realized that its back after playing mario party. i was thoroughly pummelled twice and the whole time i was very frustrated. its not that i love winning, i could almost care less cept that i HATE losing. i need to go on fear factor, i think i would have a really good shot at winning. need my shoulder to heal faster.
we need to live everyday like the girl JM talked about, make everything count for something.

yesterday went to zachary's for lunch. the waiter was serving the slices and asked janet what kinda pizza she wanted:
waiter: "chicken or the special?"
janet: "pizza....., i mean chicken."
waiter: "here's a chicken for the smart one."
went miniture golfing and bowling this past weekend. it was nice doing something "active" for a change. cant believe that these are the 2 most active things that ive done in the past 6 weeks.

PRAYER
"unless i'm badly mistaken, one of the main reasons so many of God's children don't have a significant prayer life is not so much that we don't want to, but that we don't plan to. if you want to take a four-week vacation, you don't just get up one summer morning and say, "hey, let's go today!" you won't have anything ready. you won't know where to go. nothing has been planned. but that is how many of us treat prayer. we get up day after day and realize that significant times of prayer should be a part of our life, but nothing's ever ready. we don't know where to go. nothing has been planned. no time. no place. no procedure. and we all know that the opposite of planning is not a wonderful flow of deep, spontaneous experiences in prayer. the opposite of planning is the rut. if you don't plan a vacation you will probably stay home and watch TV. the natural, unplanned flow of spiritual life sinks to the lowest ebb of vitality. there is a race to be run and a fight to be fought. if you want renewal in your life of prayer you must plan to see it." -piper quoted from spiritual disciplines for the christian life
